General Scrappage scheme with the 500?

Plus the thing about the 15th of May is rubbish. That is not what www.fiat.co.uk/scrappage says. That says:

Offer available on new models registered between the date the government scheme comes into effect and 31 May 2009.

Your salesman is a blatant L. I. A. R. :D
Don't be fooled by him.

Your salesman sounds a bit of a loser tbh, sounds like he has a bit of an attitude problem.
I'd like to echo that sentiment, my dealer has been really great so far, at first he didn't know of the scrappage scheme which was fair enough but he's chased up as many details as he can on it and has been really upfront and honest and has never once said yeah we can do that for you for sure because no one is 100% sure what's happening with the 500 and this scheme.

I can fully understand why fiat wouldnt want to make the 500 part of that scheme. If they currently have no problem shifting the car at normal price then why should they lose out on 1k if they dont need to.

I know its bad news for those who want me (me included) but it wouldnt stop me buying anyway.

I have bought a GP because i couldnt afford a 500.

Though the 500 will more than likely be my next car in a few years.

Just got back from flagship store in London and they confirmed that the 500 is going to be in the scrappage scheme. The salesman mentioned that the 500 was a non discount vehicle but they have no choice but to include it in the scrappage deal.

Now i'm seriously thinking of buying the ByDiesel.... hmmm :)

Did they say when it's gonna happen?

well he was talking as if it was already in place - i could have placed my order today with my suitable "scrappage" car. Give them a call - its the Marylebone Flag ship store.

I'm still waiting with baited breath, my wife's old car is eligible for the scheme but my dealer knows nothing at the moment. It would certainly ease my aching wallet but it's never been a deal breaker to getting a pair of 500's for us both. However £2k would subsidise a lot of nights out!

Hi - did they confirm that they are actually part of the scheme or are they just taking speculative orders like a number of other dealers?
It's 100% confirmed :) My dealer has taken my order and taken the details of my 406 for scrappage

Hi, I am new to the forum and just thought I would share my info :). I am entitled to the scrappage scheme and I have just put a deposit down on a 500 in my local showroom (Yesterday 03/05/09). The man at the dealer is waiting to get confirmation that the 500 qualifies for the scrappage scheme. The sales man shown me a booklet from fiat itself to the dealers mentioning that the 500 would be perfect for the scheme but not actualy confirming that it was included. I am just waiting to get confirmation and then it will be full steam ahead (y). So to clarify, my local dealer is going to get in touch with me as soon as the dealers learn that it either qualifies or not. So at the moment nobody knows

Well it seems several dealers now are taking deposits based on the 500 being included in the scheme, so there'll either be lots of happy faces around or lots of dealers with egg on their faces! Good luck to all of you who have placed deposits based on this, lets hope it is true and you can all swap your rusty clunkers for a lovely little 500! (y)

Well my dealer said it's confirmed and I've no reason to think he's lying :)

My dealer also confirmed so again why should anyone think differently. After all if it wasn't to happen looking through the forums a number of cars will be cancelled and neither Fiat nor the Dealers would want that.

Well im still sceptical my dealer has just said he doesnt want to promise me anything because he doesent know. I think we will all just have to wait because, like the govenment has stated if the maker opts in its got to be accross the whole range. Must admit tho my dealer said he would rather turn people away who want to buy a 500 because they only make £250 on each 500! so thats why i think the 500 might not be included because they will probably lose money on it. But all salesmen are liars lol so we dont know what to think.

My salesman has been very honest and up until today said it wasn't confirmed. If your salesman hasn't taken the time out to check up then go elsewhere and deal with someone who makes the effort.

My sales man has been great really and hes getting in touch with me as soon as he hears more. i just found him a bit hard to believe when he said they only make £250 on each 500 thats all.
