as title, im looking to get a new gearbox for my bravo as it went bang in a big way, and have just been given this website curtosey of Fiatangel that has alod of cars for scrap.

i want to know wethere you think its worth a go, im loooking at the sandwich one imparticular

I'm sure someone can clarify, but for certain categories of write-off I'm pretty sure you need to be a registered dismantler wih all the appropriate disposal facilities / licenses just to buy the car.

thanks Christopher, but if its a punto it has to be a mk 1 as the gearbox mounts are completley different on the mk11

the problem with universal auctions is that you dont win online, so even if it looks like you have won the car online, the car is actually going through a normal auction at a later date too.

universal do both, salvage anyone can buy, brake only they come to your yard and make sure you have a brakers licence, they come with no vin numbers and no reg, its even ground out of the windows, so no one can put them back on the road, you have to buy a lorry load to make delivery charges worth it
