i'd imagine mine to be an absolute pig to do with the skyroof in the way!

So the factory fit unit uses a gyroscope to detect actual turns at junctions etc. That's quite impressive as normal hand helds have to work out car orientation purely dynamically (using sat data + predictive & assumptive software). There are two antennas inside it and a gyroscope, the GPS antenna is very sensitive to shock motion and can damage easily.

where abouts in cardiff are you dreamworx? and what stilo you got? might see you driving about
rich, that seems logical enough, i did feel its a bit of an add on, but the reception is fantastic. have you got pics of the original antenna? because my phone side of things is fine, if the antenna houses both, why would one go and not the other?
dreamworx, the £15 ones are on ebay - I can get the original antennas cheaper, it's just if you feel confident enough to fit them.
Oz, it's the antenna on your roof! There are two antennas inside it and a gyroscope, the GPS antenna is very sensitive to shock motion and can damage easily.
Ebay ones are a good idea to test it, and much easier to fit.
If you order the antenna from an Alfa 159, it's much cheaper and got lots of cabling, which reduces the number of connections in the Stilo (hence less of a chance to go wrong). It's about £60 cheaper than the Stilo aerial.
Is the satellite picture on the display lighting up green? How many satellites does it connect to (on average)?
