Safe to drive with red key?

I put my blue key in a safe place today, pretty sure my gf's taken it.

But I've desperately got to go somewhere. Is it ok to drive with the red key? I've never driven it with that key before!

fine mate, although i wouldnt use it for a lengthly period of time, as i have been told that it knackers the ECU in some way (not sure if this is true) but were talking after many starts.
I used mine on my bravo for bout 8 months with no probs

Its fine, doesn't do anything to the ECU.

Go get it copied tho.. and use the copy.

and if/when you find the blue key it probably won't work until you program it back into the ECU.

i drove with my red key for ages (as my blue keys handle was all knackered and sticky (the garage trued to fix it with electrical tape!) but got a copy of the blue key done, and it didnt need programming in, everything was fine. but i have been told if you use the red key in excess of 1200 times it can knacker your ECU

There is a lot of bunk surrounding the red key. Using it won't deprogram your blue keys. You can only ADD new keys with the red key, and then only if you follow the instructions.

Used it last night. Didn't notice any difference. All good.

IDEALLY, rather than copy the blue key, use it at a fiat dealer to get 2 new blue ones made up. I think its about £120

The red key will only damage your car if you stab it with the key or scratch it.

However if you have no blue keys and lose the red key you're stuffed.
