Hi im giving trading standards a ring in the morning , The body shop in Mochdre slaters did say it was rust ,but would not put it on paper ,my pics were sent to slough and they make the decision . I have had problems with slaters in the past ,as i had to buy a new steering colum for the car fiat gave me 250.00 pounds towards the cost ,but really again i think fiat should have fixed my car at no cost to me

Pretty sure it does mention it in the book but I dont have my Fiat any more sadly so I cant check...
I agree some dealerships are awkward, the manufacturers who's dealerships are not awkward are generally Premium brands, & you pay for the quality of service when you buy their cars at Premium rates generally.
Choice is :-
Pay a lot for the car new & enjoy being looked after, or buy a new car cheap & miss out on all that.

Hi my reply of FIAT the Anti-Perforation Warranty covers rust which has perforated the metal and has originated from the inside cavity panel or section of the bodywork,ie from a surface which has not been finished with a top coat.
Is it worth a challenge at a county court

I do not understand Fiat's reaction to all that. I have had dozens of issues with my 1.9 Mjet Sporting and they have been absolutely fantastic every single time I contacted them. Same goes to LC Motors in Cwmbran, by far the best Fiat garage in Wales. Can you post some pictures on this forum please? I'm sure that more experienced members will give you proper advice.
That sounds about right, take that to them in writing, if the perforation is on the inside of the boot lid like you said it should be covered!

I have owned a 08 Grande Punto 1.9Mjet since new and have been very pleased with it.
Resonantly I too have noticed what seams to be rust appearing with paint now flaking on the inside lip of the Bonnet and on the inside lip of the Boot lid.
I am quite surprised as I think I have looked after it well with regular washing, polishing and it's stored in a garage.
Thanks to the Forum,s advice a few years ago, I too sealed the leak into Boot lid which was filling with water but maybe the damage had been done.
I have tried to included a photo (although not very clear)
I will visit my local dearler this week to see it is covered by the 8 year warranty mentioned in Hand Book.
If not I will try and repair myself.(At leased it's not in a to visible location).

It is covered 100% , mine rusted exact same place, took to dealer outside of 3rd year warranty, they booked me in to approved body shop and it was sand blasted back to bear metal, galvanised and resprayed, think the bill was £200 to dealer

Did they dunk the whole panel in a zinc vat to galvanise it then? Didn't know bodyshops did that sort of thing. I guess they must do or everything they fix would rust through a couple of years later.
Zinc based primer I'm led to believe. The grande Punto isn't fully galvanised anyway, only the lower half is done by manufacturer
PluS they won't dip it as that would mean re painting the whole boot lid inside and out and removing glass eyc. They only re spray inner side lower section

That sounds more like it.
I'm surprised the whole of the gp isn't galvanized, thought that was standard practise these days.
My under-warranty repair bill was £900 for roughly the same amount of rust. They replaced the whole bonnet and repainted the wings (to ensure it still matched apparently)
There is a water leakage problem on them, it can get in where the rear wiper is and the rear brake light, on my old one if it had been raining and you opened the boot, water would pour out of the drain holes. not condensation we're talking 1 Ltr+.
So maybe yours has that problem?
Mine was a 1.9 sporting and to give you an idea,
0-5000miles 1/2 a liter of oil was needed,
5000-25'000miles 0 liters of oil was needed between services.
Take it another fiat garage, a fiat garage with a body shop.
Also any more problems talk to fiat UK direct about it, try have the other body shops give you a diagnosis in writing.
And don't forget 10 year perforation warranty
After it has been raining I have the litre of water when I open the boot

Not sure, I took it back to fiat and they wiped silicone round the wiper arm and some other bit's but made no difference, Body shop might be better to take it too, they can be really good with stuff like that, well people i use are.
