General RUST - and what to do about it.

-- i have seen patches welded on cars in the past that have rotted around the plate that has been welded years previous, --

So . now your agreeing with me ?

--and i can weld anything--

AHH-CHOO ,, sorry , thats an allergic reaction I get when I hear bul¤&%&t.

--you keep blowing your trumpet pal, I have thought in the past i am the best--

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ - check your ego at the door mate , I'me neither interested or impressed.

If you work was so great , how come it was so unprofitable that it forces you to still slave away at it. ?
Surely if you were at the peak of your profession , as your boastfull resume seems to indicate then you should have earned enough money by now to take it easy , like I do.

That can happen on the initial tack when using a mig., especially on thin material.
If you were a welder, you would know that. :)

Ah right. This sort of surface rust would still pass a MOT in New Zealand. Though no doubt if one wanted a 'mint' looking uno you could easily get a panelbeater to fill this gap with bog:eek:

He got a blowhole on his 10 year guarantee repair as he didnt cut enough of the corrosion out and effectively has welded to rust, i dont slave away for nowt, and on a very good wage, your doing so well and yet you drive 2 cars that are worth £500 in total, dont you live in rochdale, no beach there pal, who are you and where from, can be anyone through the power of titternet, can you rub filler or use a jig, or any of the other special old school tools, or you just read about them in a book, I'm Ant from manchester

You are seriously fricked up in the head mate - So much so that you can't even manage correct sentence structure.
You expect us to view you as a serious professional, yet you can't string four or five words together correctly.
Rather it comes out as the ranting mess of an imbecile.

Never mind...

To keep the peace I reverse all of my comments , and hereby agree with whatever you have said in the past and whatever you will say in the future.
I agree with you 100% as you are right on ALL things.

It is obvious to see that in the state of your mediocrity that it is very important for you to feel like you are number one in here .. That's OK , you can have the whole forum to yourself.

But -- This time to all my friendly associates , I am really out of here -- there are just too many argumentative weirdos in here for my liking.

To the genuine ones in here I wish you a fond Adieu.

To the others , remember , 'Drugs are Bad'.

You've really got some problems and sound bitter with the world. You accuse others of the very issues that quite obviously apply to you. Do you have some deep rooted insecurity that it makes you feel big by posting egotistical comments and condescending people in a small section of a niche forum? What are you trying to prove? Why, if you feel that there are "too many argumentative weirdos" in here, did you come back last time? And how come it is ok for you to trumpet about how wonderful you, your life and your "skills" are yet anyone else who stands up and says what they can do you accuse them of "egos" or of wanting to be "number one"? The word that springs to mind here is "hypocrite".

So far all we've seen from you is a picture of a mk1 Uno speedometer and of you tacking a plate over a hole in an old Swift. If this is what early retirement means I have to look forward to I think I'll work a little longer. Why haven't you shown us pictures of YOUR work, and of these amazing race cars that you built? Or details of the teams that raced these cars? Or pictures of the restorations you did when the race cars didn't make enough money to pay the bills (yet you got enough to retire early?) Or ANYTHING to actually substantiate your claims?

Antsuno2 has posted many pictures of his work and projects, plus is known personally by members of the forum who will vouch for his skills. You don't seem to like it that other people may also have knowledge and skills equal to or better than yours, and seem to want to criticise them if they use the forum for it's intended purpose - to debate and discuss all issues related to our cars.

As I've said before, you are clearly very knowledgeable in a lot of areas and would be a welcome addition to the forum IF you could join in its community spirit and friendly nature. However, it doesn't look like you'll be able to make friends nor actually be able to participate in a group discussion without resorting to self righteousness, insults and the belittling of others. As such I'm not sorry to see you leave (again) and pity you if you feel that to get through life you have to behave in such a puerile manner.

i'm closing this for now....and looking back over it....expect wrath.....

edit: right re-opened, wrath inflicted, for now i'm leaving thjis as is, everyone involved dealt with

gents, i said play nice, and i mean it...i do expect diff points of view, but not childish antics, name calling, and ball breaking, save that for LL

i insist on being the most hands off, laziest mod on the forum, because i have two sections that self regulate pretty much all the time, and are a joy to "run"....let's keep it that way.....

well i'm a self taught welder. first i bought an arc welder to play with as they were cheap. i found it incredibly difficult at first to achieve something that resembled welding. after a bit of practice i was doing some reasonable welds.
not long after i bought myself a mig so i can restore my uno turbo. find mig welding very easy and think any1 can do it.

SO PEEPS HAVE A GO! (y)

Good stuff troy! (y)

I have a MIG welder too - I'm not much good with it, but I found a friend (jjhepburn) who was - so we share techniques and improve our skills together.

thepottleflump - congratulations. We've compared welding in the past, and yours was extremely diligent and sturdy ;)

About this thread - I feel it started well, but soon started to degenerate in several obvious steps. Several of us posted things to try and keep it constructive, but it carried on.

I reckon we should lay this particular thread to rest - and start a new 'welding' thread to show the results of our projects in the future.

Thanks Jai, for your actions.
