Rubber strip under front bumper

After an encounter with an unmarked speed bump the rubber strip which sticks down from under the fornt of my HGT is hanging loose.

I've snapped a section of the plastic that it bolts to and ripped the rubber from a couple of the other bolts.

Does anyone know what the purpose of this strips is and whether it will be difficult to fix the damage.

I've lost the rubber strip on my HGT also...i've always wondered what its for...

Same thing happened to my Bravo when I was in Italy. Parked the car facing a pavement and rolled the nose over the kerb.....till i heard the scraping !! LOL

It cost about £25 for a new rubber strip, new bolts and labour at my local FIAT dealer (Desira Norwich)

As to the purpose.....either it's there to protect the bumper or stop u marking the pavement LOL

It doesn't appear as though it has any real benefit then?
I might just take the whole thing off and not bother replacing it.
