My 2017 Doblo 1.6L multijet (105hp) isn’t reving above 3000rpm when stationary. No warning lights and no smoke. I just noticed this rev limit thing today after I collected it after its MOT and service (oil and filters). It seemed to have a ticking from the engine at idol and I was just wanting to see if it got worse at higher revs. I’d never rev’d it at stationary before so don’t know if this 3000 limit was always present. I’ve had the van for 3 years. In that time it’s ever missed a beat and no warning lights have ever come on. I did always think a speed limiter had been installed by previous owner as I could never get the van to go above 70 mph on the motorway.
So is it normal for engine safety reasons for revs at standstill to be limited to 3000 or should it rev higher? Is my assumption that a speed limit of 70mph has been set in the MCU? Or is there in fact an issue with the engine or the electronics?
