i have posted this on the coupe forum too but i think it could be answered generally too....

been meaning to post this for a while now but most times when i change gear the revs drop down quite a but then all of a sudden the car kicks into life and the revs suddenly go up and then settle, it doesnt do this every time but most times.

any ideas?

idle control valve? my tipo used to do that so i took the idle control valve off and cleaned it with carb cleaner and after that it ran fine. hope that helped ;)

Get your local friendly person ;) to get the carb cleaner from their parents, then whip the ICV off and give it a bit of a clean.

nothing todo with your idle valve.2 things to check.throttle position sensor, and the MAP sensor.i think your MAP sensor wants cleaning out[because of the position it gets full of oil].this will sort the problem out.have a diagnosis check done to check the TPS and other sensors and multi plugs[another known problem].on the coupe web site ther is mentioned a chap in leeds and a chap in wigan that specialises in coupes.hope this helps.

I am taking the car to either iceberg in brum, or paxtons in wrexham for an MOT so i could get it looked then :)

The 20V engines don't have a MAP sensor - these are only on the 16V versions. I'd still give the ICV a clean, as it's free, before getting diagnostics involved.
