Reverse light switch on the gear box
That or crappy earth. Check for 12v at the connector, then 12v + connection and a good earth.
Common earth on punto tail lights so if the earth is bad non of the lights would work

Multi-meter on the Reverse sensor - set to resistance / continuity
In Neutral or forward gears you should get High resistance / No continuit
select reverse the resistance should be now very low and allows continuity
Not heard of the sensors failing, but anything is possible

No continuity, and no resistance also I'd have though as there shouldn't be any connection between the two pins.

just to be a stickler....no resistance reading

pull the plug off the geary box (its at the front as you peer in,gearbox is on the right the engine is on the left)
stick some bare wire in the two holes on the end of the wire where the plug is (dont let bare wires touch anything else on car)
go and turn ignition lights on dash on but no start engine
go to back of car and see if reversing light lit
report back findings for next step in action required
