Reverse Polarity

Can you explain reverse polarity and if i have it set correctly ?

From the amp on channel 1 i have plus and minus set as normal, then going to first speaker i have them swapped and then also the same going to second speaker. Is this correct ?

Paul,

I expect people will argue with my reply.... but when it comes to Polarity i always work on the principle of what sounds best goes.

95% of the time having both speakers wired correctly Pos to pos, neg to neg) sounds fine.... sometimes there is just something missing... its hard to explain, but i've had 1 or 2 installs where it has taken one of the speakers to be wired 'out of phase' to make the world of difference.

the general rule of thumb is to have both speakers (I assume they are fronts) wired correctly... and unless it sounds terrible then experiment.

Cheers. It was actually the subs. I spoke about them before, i've inverted them in the box, so was just double checking.

Is it correct your selling your gear ?

I would be interest in the amps, but money is tight at the moment, what are you moving onto ?

With the subs try them both wired normally... then 1 sub out of the 2 wired out of phase... then the other.... then both. what sounds best... do it!

And yep i'm selling most of my gear, I'm going to be working on the rest of the car (non ICE mods) and i'm waiting for some real serious stuff to work its way over from the states to me. The amps are all sold apart from 1 Directed 1100 now, it goes quick when you have the right contacts!
