Who here has a battery eater?
by that, i mean a bit of equpiment that is so overly ambitious for the technology of the time, it's baffling why they bothered making it.
Of course, i am reffering to the sega game gear. 6 batterys an hour in a portable machine that weighs 1.6 times that of an average house brick. great concept, pointless execution! still have mine though
also have a ps1, ps2, xbox, xbox 360, game boy advance, game boy ds, psp. in the past i've also had an N64 and my favourite console of all time, the Sega Dreamcast. best, most advanced ahead of it's time console ever made with the worst Build quality ever achieved imo. you need to remember the dreamcast was up against the ps1, yet 2 generations of machines later, it's graphics stand up to scrutiny today against the lates gen of console. it was also the first console to introduce full internet access and also the first console to have downloadable games for it's standalone memory unit/portable games machine, the Vm. AND in doing so, made the downloadable options available from a basic forerunner to Itunes.
All of todays consoles have something the dreamcast tried 11 years ago. internet? aye, downloads? aye, motion controls?, aye. it was a fabulous machine for its time let down by hideous reliability and crap support from developers. shame, it really could have been a sensation if the money grabbers had let it be. but alas, it's a bit forgotten about these days.
