Paint restorer :)

Autoglym and Meguiars do them. Once that is done get a polish on afterwards

I've recently tried Autoglym Paint Restorer and actually thought it was a bag of ... :)

Not tried the Megs variant tho.

Megs is good for polish.. find autoglym good for soapy suds for the car. Try the mix of both, make sure u do it thorough n clean the water regularly.. usually use 3 buckets of soapy suds for the car, another 1 for the wheels.. then take a good long hour to polish n buff..

not that i love my car or anything! LOL

Are you for real? 3 buckets of water for the car and then 1 for the wheels?

2 buckets and I can do both my motors and the leftovers just about do my old dear's Punto.

Dread to think what your water bill is like :)

re

megs do some scratch x stuff supposed to be pretty good!

megs gold class is nice and soapy! and yeah ta least two buckets, one soapy the other to rinse. . you shouldnt put dirty water back on your car!

you wouldnt wash your clothes in old bath water? why shoudl you clean you car with dirty water?

Allan

and the first bucket is just of clear water to remove light dust off the car.. making the 2nd bucket with soapy suds get to the tough dirt and the water wouldnt be as dirty.. then the 3rd is to rinse.. wouldnt do it anyother way!

plus i never let the jetwashes etc near my car! they dont replace the brushes often so can lead scratches on ur car..

Car and clothes is an odd comparison. One I wear next to my skin whilst the other is a tool. Clothes need to be properly cleaned whilst the other is not an item that necessarily requires such a comprehensive clean as its not subject to anything like the same use or has the same hygienic requirements.

I wouldn't wash my clothes in dirty bath water as I'd want them properly cleaned so they are fresh.

Cleaning car with dirty water? Its just a car! If you then go on to polish and wax, any left over dirt from the water will be wiped off anyhow :)

If perhaps I had an Aston Martin sitting on the drive, I would pay more attention to the cleaning procedure, but to be realistic and sensible - it's just a Brava/o.

Don't get me wrong, not having a pop at anyone, just can't see the logic for spending so much effort on what will give you pretty much the same results as my cleaning methods. Each to their own tho! :)

Sorry for putting he thread onto a tangent :)

fair say!

I just like my car.. i dont clean it everyday like other people.. just enjoy a thorough cleaning sesh. I am a virgo! LOL

But back to thread, try anything first.. as a last resort, respray!

Insy, my thoughts exactly :)
I bet your neighbours think your a right nut job with 3 buckets to clean 1 car lol.

Megs stuff is pretty good IMO. Although I used the autoglym super resin polish on my red transit the other day, looks great considering the state it was in!

Thanks for the advice guys and girl :)

the worse has happened, some inconciderate idiot, decided to do a hit and run on my little megane...seeing as the car is so low, just went up the bonnet and decided to drive off. scratched all up the bonnet and driverside wing aswell as headlight.

will these items work on that aswell? really deap scratches on my bonnet, right through to the primer, ever past that to be honest :(

I have to say I'm with you, custard tart. And I'm a Libra, so I'm meant to be a slob apparently! 1 for the surface dirt, 2nd for the built up grime and 3rd to rinse, hose ban and all that!

But then again, I suppose I have to, as even when I've polished my car like 3 times, it still looks dirty when parked next to my man friends!

With regards to your question, Shaun (back to the topic!) I am actually quite fond of the autoglym rennovator too, it works a treat on mine, but then again it depends how deep the scratches are. T cut the scratches perhaps then paint rennovator then end it with a good coat of polish.

But then again, my cars mettalic so it may have a different effect and cover it up better ;)

Restoring old Paintwork

FAO / Shaun

What you REALLY want to do is get yourself an anglegrinder with variable speed, and get a couple of 3M mop heads (med + soft)(white n orange) and some G3 cutting compound (a tall yellow bottle) from motorspares (or other car shop) and use slightly damp, and polish away, but easily though, you don't wanna burn through the paint. I've probably done 10,000 motors this way from new to old classics. Paint renorvator (autogloom) is hard work.

G3- a winner everytime !
