Resetting the ECU

I don't mind being hijacked, the more the merrier!

Yep, I was given the info I needed thanks and have successfully disconnected and reconnected the battery (and yes I am a woman!). The car seems to be running better now actually as it was stalling all the time. I was also advised to try adjusting the accelerator cable and/or to have the throttle position sensor range relearnt by the ECU using a fiat examiner machine.

All sounds a bit too technical to me.

You don't need the diag machine to reset the ECU.
