Hey.

I bought myself a Bravo just a couple a days ago, and I'm about to buy a new cd-player, cos my Bravo has only a poor cassette player.

How does the standard unit come out? I've tried to find info in the manual and the internet but couldn't find any.
Can you help me? Thanks.

radio removal

There are 4 clips 1 in each corner, i removed mine with the use of a dinner knife and pushed in the clips one by one. hope this helps.

Keep Existing unit but add changer

How do!! I went down that road of changing my head unit for a cd. BUT, i was informed of a mod which can use the existing head unit with a 6 disc changer. Basically, it is a 6 disc changer with a small box which plugs into the back of ya head unit. The controls on the head unit remain the same as if you fitted a Fiat one.

The differences??

1)its a sony
2)its only £120 quid!!

The comparisons??

1) you get to keep all the cd changer functions
2) It is guaranteed and fully approved

Try that one chap, unless you really want a different head unit. Have a broswe below anyway.....

fiat garage

Hi there! To be fair u could add a changer but it would sound better with a higher amp power which u would get with a modern cd player.

I actually read a old post which said a guy had the cheek to go to a fiat garage.......I did the same and for free thay got a device like 2 metal rods and in a matter of 5 seconds it was out!cool!

u could try it another way but personally i wouldnt bother.Hope that helps.

Removing stereo

I just went down to the local car audio shop and they removed mine with two "keys" for free. The keys r like two thin U shaped pieces of metal that unclip the stereo then let u pull it out.

thanks

thank you fellas. i'll try to remove it myself, cos i bet here they won't do it for free.
BUT if i seem to injure the car too much, i'll just have to pay for someone professional to do it..

thanks again, i'll let you know if i ruined the car ;)

Re: Removing stereo

There are a number different ways of doing it without the tools and some Fiat dealerships will take it out for you for free anyway. I went down to my local dealer and bought the tools - only cost me a fiver. It took 2 seconds to remove the radio with no danger of marking the radio or the plastic.....so if there's anyone near Cardiff who wants their radios removed, give us a shout!!

How much

How much did the small box cost for your changer?

And how much was the changer?

Thanks

Removed the standard unit

Hey.

I managed to get the unit out by using a knife.. the clips were a bit difficult to reach though. Ain't got a new player yet to replace the old with, but i noticed an interesting thing;

The manual said that my Bravo only had a two-channel soundsystem, so only the front speakers were functioning.. After a moment of investigation, i realised that the "two-channel system" was only an adapter (between the player and the speaker wires) that limited the amount of speakers to two. :D I removed the adapter and voilá, i got a fully functioning 4-channel sound system. :p

I wonder how much this "operation" had cost at a Fiat retailer.
