General Replacing speakers?

It doesn't look too bad from what I've seen - Just a few screws, and a straight swap I think. The only concern I have is the HU as I'm not sure if aftermarket ones use different wiring to the factory?

to change head unit is dead easy

just unplug cables from factory unit and plug them in to new unit,
very easy

If its a Blaupunkt unit replacing a Blaupunkt unit maybe a straight swap is possible ( with the correct surround bit ).

What if the head unit is a different make ? I thought all manufacturers had different connections ? ( the link below also says about wiring adaptors, I understand this to mean for different makes of stereos ? )

Don't you also need the correct surround bit as in this link ? -

You will also need stereo keys to remove the current unit ?

Lots of question marks above so I'm not sure on any of the above, can anyone give a 100% accurate answer on the above ?

i.e. no guesses please ;) !

Hi,

I have an '07 1.2 Dynamique.

The main problem with the sound in the car as standard is I think that tweeters are not actually fitted, such is the base level of equipment. The Blaukpunt stereo will not even play MP3 discs.

So, you have to have the treble wound totally up unless you just want to feel bass being pumped into your feet. Makes listening to speech radio impossible.

I would like to fit a third-party component speaker system in the existing holes, under the trim, so that it is not obvious to everyone that is has been modded. Therefore I need to know the exact sizes of the original equipment - does anyone have this information?

I am going to be replacing the HU with one that can interface directly with my iPhone (all MP3s ripped at 320kps using EAC not iTunes, so no problem with quality), so it can be charged and also have the TomTom and handsfree calls through the stereo.

The HU replacement is no problem with the correct facia adapter but I need to know the info regarding the speakers, and can't find the data anywhere, just lots of adapter plates and cut-through mods.

Thanks loads in advance.

You'd be very unlucky to find a headunit that doesn't have an ISO connector or have an adapter harness available. Mine is over 10 years old and plugged straight in.
