Technical Replacing ignition switch 05 Ducato

Hope someone can help me, tried to replace the ignition barrel due to the old one sticking. Removed the old one by turning the key and pushing up the small catch with a screwdriver. I am now unable to get the new one back in as the end that turns to start the engine does not align with the other end allowing it to push home. Tried turning the ignition with a large screwdriver to align before inserting the new barrel which was not successful as could not get it to go past the first click.

Hope someone can help as need the van for work on Monday

Remove the switch then you'll be able to turn the gear manually to line up
