On my 230 it's simply a case of removing the air filter box and intake pipes, un-clipping the connector and wrapping a ring spanner (19mm I think?) around it and out she comes.

It might be worth checking when the gearbox oil is due a change as the reversing switch port is used to pour in the fresh oil after draining, and it's a really easy job to do whilst you're in there.

Switch removed from my x244 measures 22mm over hexagon flats. As illustrated in the original post, either an offset ring spanner or preferably a deep 22mm socket would make job easier.
The air hoses may be secured with c clik clips. Special pliers needed to remove and replace.
If vehicle is an "A" class motorhome then access may be restricted.
Test function after fitting, before refitting air filter and hoses.
