Hi,

Can anyone provide a guide to changing Coil pack on Mk2 16v Punto? Is it a simple remove and replace process or does it need to be in some way installed in sync with th engine?

anyone tried and had problems, i am no mechanic but have basic tools and if its straightforward should be able to do it. Or should it be a definate garage job?

thanks

P.S. i notice the whole guide to checking ECU/Coil Packs on here seems to relate to the 8v engine i.e. with 2 seperate coils. HOw can you check if it s a coil of ECU problem on 16V version where coils are in one pack?

Cheers

Hello,

Anyone got any thoughts on the above. Need to make a decision pretty quick about whether to have a go changing coil pack myself, or getting in booked in with a garage?

Someone must have changed this themselves and have some idea?

Someone has mentioned to me that it may be difficult if it has to be isntalled so its in time with the engine pistons - so it fires at top of cycle etc??

I suggested that this would be completely controlled by ECU on modern cars rather than it being a mechanical timing?

Hi mate,

Coil pack just plugs in and bolts on iirc. As you say on a modern car its all controlled by the ECU. Its an easy job!

Cheers,
Alan

Further to what i said above, just make sure you put the park plug leads back on in the right order! Ie mark them with some tipex or something when you take them off!
