Hi folks
Had my 500 for a few weeks. When I bought it it had some dire aftermarket Amazon special stereo - all flashing lights and disco effects.
I managed to buy a replacement factory stereo and air vents from a 500 Abarth. I came with the original stereo code passport thingy.
When plugged in and switched on it comes up with "Code Error" and no way to enter the code.
I thought that up to 2015 all the factory stereos were compatible. Its a Bosch unit if that helps.
I just wanted to put my 500 back to factory without spending lots on an aftermarket stereo.
Also it looks like whoever fitted the aftermarket POS unplugged a thin white cable and a thin blue cable from the power connector and also fitted a permanent live as the Fiat stereo turns on without the ignition. I have looked online and googled till i started tearing my beard out but I cant finda ny info on what wire goes where in the block connector.
Any help/info would be appreciated.

Welcome 🙂 Unfortunately the factory units are VIN-coded, so even with the code card they won’t always work in another car that’s why you’re seeing “Code Error”. A dealer or specialist can sometimes reprogram it, but it’s often not cheap. The wiring bodge is pretty common with aftermarket installs too; sounds like the ignition feed and CAN wires were messed with. Might be worth grabbing a proper Fiat loom adaptor to put it back to standard.

Bugger. Was hoping that was not the case.
I have attached pics of the wiring I have.
So I noticed on the rear of the stereo there is a connector above the one I have and am wondering if the thin blue and thin white wires were connected to this connector originally but for some unknown reason it was taken off.
I wish I'd never started now!
