Hello - I am new to the forum so was going to say "hello" but then couldn't do it properly, gave up, and came on here! So to begin with "HELLO!!"

I own a 500C mild hybrid 2020 999cc darling of a car. She is very pretty and lovely, but is driving me crazy with some error messages that keep appearing on the dash.

I asked my local garage (not Fiat as its 00s of miles away) and they suggested getting the battery checked as it may not have enough charge which could cause this, but its fine.

Basically, I keep getting the following messages and "beeps" while driving....
Hill Holder not available - see guide
Anti skid brakes not available with little car skidding on ice pic
Stop Start not available - sometimes it works, sometimes it shuts off but won't clutch back on again, sometimes it doesn't work at all

All these things happen on a daily basis and around the same time, so was guessing a glitch in the computer system (was hoping rather than all these things actually going wrong).

Does anyone have any ideas please before I call up the Fiat garage and have to drive there?

Many thanks

I too am tempted to say new battery as its now 5 years old, 1.2l cars also suffer from failing engine earth straps it maybe worth checking this as it's a very cheap part £7 or so.
When you say anti skid do you mean abs or stability control?
How far do you normally drive before it comes up?

Who's said it's fine?
and which battery are they talking about?
The normal (starter) 12V battery or the Hybrid battery?

Does it also feel a little less perky when accelerating ?

Hi - I had my 10 point check at Halfords recently, it was the guy doing the check that said it was OK. He didn't realise it was a soft hybrid as he didn't see the hybrid battery! I think I will get a new one anyway as 5 years is quite long for one to run well. Ive not had a control panel screen/stereo before, do I need to make a note of a code like I used to for a cassette or CD player? (showing my age lol).

Still feels perky when accelerating, but not so much if putting my foot down to come out of a junction quickly, if you see what I mean.

The reason I ask is if the hybrid (under a seat) isn't being charged then you'll lose that perkiness when pulling away from a standstill.

and apparently from a little research the other day if the main (starter) battery is below par, the hybrid system will not operate (so you lose hybrid assist - which is apparent on a standstill pullaway)

Hi - its the ESC car and skid pic on the dashboard, and also says ABS in the circle - both tend to come on at the same time... it can be straight away when backing out of a drive, say, or later on during a longer drive. I have also driven a couple of times when they've not come on at all. Its also the Hill Holding unavailable and Stop Start Unavailable - refer to handbook - messages. But Stop Start does sometimes work too.

And this could be down to a intermittently duff or badly adjusted brake pedal switch (not looked on a fiat so far, but usually two switches in one, one to sense you pressing the brakes and the other to confirm you're not pressing the brakes) , or even a dodgy ABS wheel sensor or wiring to ...

If it is a brake switch at fault you can usually bring it on by ever so slightly pressing down on the brake pedal whilst driving along, eventually the car will notice what you're doing and flag an error.

It's getting more complicated, is the red abs light on? This can be a faulty wheel sensor or poor battery? This then trips the hill holder and esc on
Hi - so when the screen "beeps" it will either be:

The Stop Start with line through it (pressing the button on the dash doesn't clear it)
The ASR sign (skidding car) and the button light on - then it will turn off by itself a little way further
The Hill Holder unavailable message
Sometimes these happen together, sometimes singularly.
The ! in a triangle comes on at the same time (warning light?)

But if the ASR warning isn't on, I can turn it on and off easily on the middle console (button ASR OFF)

There is no Red ABS light that I can see
