My 1987 4x4 needs new suspension arm bushings. The old one I can cut out, but how to press in New bushings? Just with a vice pressing or are some tricks required?

First rubber and after that the steel bushing

Model
4x4
Year
1987
I think the 'bushing' should be considered as one part, not seperately exchanging the rubber and the steel surrounding bushing...

Looking at supplier pis these are 2 parts.

My concern is how to press the big rubber end through te smaller steel eyelet of arm

Oh sorry, I see. I thought you were talking about the rear blade springs! Because of a '4x4'. The front suspension is the same as a 2 wheel drive, concerning that bushes, exept for the hight and coil springs.

Concerning your question, I think it would be easier to first press the rubber only into the arm, and after that de steel bushing into the rubber. Applying some silicon grease (NOT glue!) would make things slide easier... ;-)

I've had good results pressing bushes out and back in with a couple of suitably sizes sockets and a long bolt or threaded bar.
A bit like this but with sockets, not cut pipe:

Important bits are getting the new bush lined up nice and straight to get it started so it doesn't nip the rubber, and some lubrication. Rubber grease best I suppose, but I've used washing up liquid.
