Technical Removing footrest

Does anyone know how to unscrew footrest screws?

Because, I have unscrewed one and I can't back the screw back.

Removing ( Refitting ) 1. Undo the bolt.
2. Remove the footrest (2a) releasing the inner retainer (2b).

Refitting ( Removing ) - Check that the footrest is not damaged.
- Position the footrest and attach the inner retainer.
- Tighten the bolt.

But, that's for "regular" footrest (not for sport footrest).

As you can see on the picture, I have three screws.

I don't know how to screw it back.

I want to change original screws with new stainless steel screws. But the problem is that you have no chance to screw old screws back. So I have to use bigger screws, So, I wonder how are they originally tightened.

With the foot-rest removed, can you see the thread through the hole?

If you try put the first screw back, does it go loosely in, or does it not go in at all?

If the former, it may be there was a loose nut which you have now lost
If its the latter, then you may have a tuft of carpet or something blocking the thread on a captive nut. The solution to this might be to take the other two screws out. However, if its the loose nut problem, then it will only make matters worse, and it will likely be a "carpet (partially)out" job.

Thats what I thought, if he can't see the thread, there must be a nut there before but now dropped to the floor. nut insert time me think~~~:devil:

But it's so stupid to put unfixed nut, isn't it?

To remove it fully, yes. However, you may get away with just removing the plastic trim over the door sill, and lift the corner of the carpet.

I made my own especially as I wear size 13+ shoes.
Mine is a RHD automatic.
You can see the plate the footrest attaches to in one of the pictures. The OE one that is part of the trim is just hopeless so it is totally correct when it is said the trim has to come off - but forever!
