Hello folks

Some of you may have seen my thread last week, when some little b******s smashed the windows in my Stilo and ran off with lots of stuff from the boot! Well, having had my first day off from work today, I decided to set about cleaning all the glass out of the boot, and removing the remaining glass from the back window, before the glass is replaced.

However, it's become apparent that loads of glass fragments have dropped down into the actual boot lid panel, somewhere between the plastic inner covers, and the outer metal work. I can't get the damn stuff out, and it rattles like hell!

Has anyone had any experience in removing the interior plastic panels from inside the boot lid? I've tried removing them, but I'm scared I'm going to snap them. My car has been sold and is being collected next week, so the last thing I want to do is break even more stuff in the car!

Many thanks for any help :)

Cheers

If the car has been sold, awaiting collection why bother? The trim does come off, by removing the screws where the grab handle recesses are, and them carefully pulling away from the metal part. The retaining clips SHOULD unclip. Getting back on it a reverse. Just make sure the clips are in the correct places on the trim.

The clip are not the most robust of things.

Thanks very much for the responses :)

I should have been more clear actually - when I said I've sold the car, I meant I have terminated my finance, and the car is going back to my finance company. Therefore, any work outside of normal wear and tear that needs doing will be footed by me anyway. So it's in my interest to get the thing cleaned up really.

I've just spoken to my neighbour who had his windows smashed last month. Apparently, Autoglass stripped the boot interior trim, and removed all of the glass fragments for him. Hopefully they'll do the same for mine :)

Thanks again
