General remove tailgate

have bought mk2 multipla 2008. previous owner had reversed into a post , have bought a second tailgate noticed they had cut threw main cable to remove it ??? have looked at one on car unsure to to take tailgate off without cutting it too .what am i missing here .any help would be gratefully received thanks mike.

I would imagine when you remove the large plastic cover there's a block connector that's what was in my friends vectra 7 seater, I would presume it will be similar pull the rubber protector away and pull the wire loom out

figured it out had to pull all the cables threw opening at top ,would have been far easier to have some sort of scart connector to unplug ,more work but worth it. mike.:idea:
