Hi all,

I have just bought my Stilo 1.9 JTD. It come with 2 key fobs. One with remote control. One without. Is this what it suppose to be? Only one keyfob with remote?

Couple questions about this... any info. will be helpful.

1). Does Stilo key contains a transponder chip?

2). Is it possible to copy the remote?

3). Where can I get a duplicate one cheaply? I heard Fiat charge £150 plus setup the car.

4). Anyone know how to open up the remote key fob? Is it possible to replace the case? Mine looks really old ;-(

Any info. will be appreciated.

Cheers.

Yes the key has an immobiliser chip in the remote body so key plus chip = car start

Remote locking/alarm is a completely separate system
Under the Fiat badge on the remote is the securing screw to disassemble

Have a look here as you can maybe swop keys, immobiliser chip and remote internals over. Swopping over the key + immobiliser chip+ remote circuit board = working remote

Have a look here

Thanks for the reply. I got an idea now.

However, is it possible to COPY the existing remote control without reprogram the car?

Don't know what you mean by "Copy?"
Copy what? Do you have a photocopier?:)

The remote circuit board is tuned to a set frequency
Your car has to be programmed to allow that frequency

If you can buy a remote that is then tuned to the same frequency then it should work to open the doors. That's why some people have found they can open more than one Stilo in a car park:)

Engine immobiliser is a different ballgame as that's done on a rolling code that is changed every time you use the key in the ignition

Might be a cheap way to aquire a second car that Decks :chin:

Yes, I am thinking to have a second remote as the backup. All I need just a remote that have the same frequency to open the car door....

If you mean by using 'clone machine' as alot of outlets have then no.

That would be very nice if the "clone machine" is available.

If there are many "clone machine" out there, why it cannot clone the FIAT remote?

PS: I just need to remote control. Not the immobilizer (transponder chip).
