The range on my remote key fob wasn't very good so I thought I would change the battery. This having been done the thing won't work any more.

I had removed the battery on a previous occaision when I resoldered one of the microswitches, that was coming adrift - that time no problems.

I was wondering if I needed to reprogram the key to the car? or if I had somehow managed to destroy the remote key fob.

I have tried a procedure for reprogramming the key on a Peugeot 806, but that didn't help.

Anyone out there got any thoughts?
Had a similar problem?
Know how to test the remote?
Know if there is a reprogramming sequence? (and what it is?)

Many thanks

programing depends on type of ulyse (year). normal, put contact and press close door button for ten sec. after key on stop wait 30sec, open door and close it and try the remote.

Thanks for your response Malin - I gave it a try but unfortunately it didn't work.

I hope I understood your instructions correctly. I turned key in ignition till engine STOP light on, pressed door lock button on remote for 10 seconds, waited 30 seconds, removed key from ignition, open & closed door and tried remote - didin't work.
I tried a few variations on this as well.

Anyone got any other ideas??? (Ulysse is a December 2000 model if it helps)

Thanks

Hi BigPaul, sorry to hear you've got the same problem. Not a lot of progress here (it still doesn't work!).
I used some gear at work and found that the key is transmitting something.
I then made the mistake of going to my local fiat dealer in Portslade to get their opinion - they were happy to have a look saying they would give me a call and let me know what it needed. They did call me to say that they had had a look and that it was the key that was faulty - for this having a look (and not fixing the problem) they charged me over £40 - this really naffed me off as they had forgotten to mention they would charge me for just looking - to my mind if anyone is going to charge you to take a look and give a quote they should make this clear in advance - not once they've done the work and when you're apparenly obliged to pay.
So then the next thing they hit me with was that a new key fob is an additional £130ish (including their charge for programming it to the ECU) - sounds like a bargain, not.
Other options appear to be fitting an after market remote locking unit (e.g Remote Keyless Entry for car central lock KE27S-PLUS on ebay for about £26 - but you'd have to work out how to wire it in or pay someone to do it)
I keep meaning to have another look at the circuit in the key fob and try and work out what's wrong - I've got nothing to loose by trying it seems.
I'll post an update if I make any progress.

I would love to know how to programme the key on the new Ulysse, I have seen a site on ebay offering this info but when I emailed, the answer was very vague as to whether it will work on new type or not. If it is a matter of pressing buttons etc surely somebody on this site has the info!

I too have had the same problem. After buying my Ulysse and the key fob working, the remote packed up and so I changed the battery. This didn't work so I asked the local Fiat dealer who told me that the key fob wasn't working and needed to be replaced. They quoted me a figure of circa £140 so I just make do with putting the key in the lock!
