I was forced to set up and use a dial up connection the other night on a laptop, in order to sign up to a broadband service at my father in laws.

wow!!!!! I cant believe it was that slow!! even just the connection part was beard growingly slow!! how did we ever put up with that????

I remember having dial up, and using limewire, an mp3 at 3mb would take about 30-40 mins, we woudl not even contemplate something at say, 20mb!! now it is done and dusted in just a couple of mins!!

blimey, dont things move on quickly!!

ahhh, i remember when i got so excited at getting dial-up in my room

now its just a case of running a bit of cat5 from a router or tapping into it via wireless.

and we do move on quickly!!

i wonder whats next!? :p

And in my case because we only had one phone line it meant I had to disconnect when someone wanted to make a phone call.. those were the days :spin:

i have been on dial up for the last 8 months due to the flats i moved into haveing outdated wireing in it. the new wireing is getting connected next friday, meaning i get to have high speed again. YAY!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D

NTL dialup only allowed a 2 hour connection so you have to get software to resume downloads.. that and running optimisers to try and squeeze out the full 56.6kbps

Now Virgin Media will be trialing 20 and 50mbps... that's a 1000% increase!

i connected my new mopbile to my laptop, connected to the internet, it said the connection speed was 28Kbp/s, eveyr time i connected to msn it took 5 minutes, then when i opened msn it crashed, thats how slow it was

lol gottalove the old days

i used to do that, IR link from laptop to 7110 - it connected at 9.6k though. was enough to chat on msn when i should've been paying attention at school!

lol mines done with cable, though i have msn on my fone so idont need the laptop while in lesson :p

gotta love it, even better when i connect the phone to the wireless network

lol, i have msn on my phone now but if im downloading stuff on it - it'll pull 300k/s easily. gotta love 3g!

Remember it? i'm still having nightmares about it!! thank god for broadband

ah, dial-up, i remember hearing the modem dial!
d/l tracks from Napster (the evil one that was going to bring the music industry to the brink of death). :slayer:

In singapore and tiawan etc they have basic 100mb connection because they are relativly new countries with a really strong technological background they have installed all new superfast cables.
