Relay Ticking Like A Bomb! Help!

One of my Relays is driving me mad, It's in the box at the back of the engine bay under the windscreen, i think it's the realy on the right hand side, what happens is ( not always but most of the time ) when idling it ticks like hell
ticktickticktickticktick, but when i depress the clutch it goes tick....tick....tick....tick....
when i lift off the clutch it geos crazy again ticking like hell, I think i read somewhere that it's the ignition Relay but i'm not sure, anyway is this normal or not, Iv'e never had anyproblem starting the car just don't want it to get any worse.it happens when driving as well but it's not as noticeable because of the engine noise.

If you can take a photo, i can check the haynes manual for you.

What model do you have.

Cheers Daz but I'm sitting here with the Haynes manual in front of me and i can't see where it says what relay it actually is, page 12*4 mentions a little bit about Relays but nothing helpful, there is only 2 Relays in the box but i'm positive it's the one on the right hand side, just need to know what it's for and if it's going to be bad news

Nope it's the relay, i had the bonnet up and had someone pressing the clutch up and down and the ticking was coming from the relay, took it out and put another one in and it was doing the same thing, it's not causing any problems it's just the noise is driving me up the wall not knowing what it is.even when the car is just sitting there running sometimes i hear nothing for day, then all of a sudden it starts ticking again, any idea's what the relays for?

Now that IS twisted!

Not a clue, what stops working when you take it out?

The relays under the black cover behind the battery?

As far as i can tell nothing stops working, Its the right hand relay in the fuse and relay box at the back of the engine bay,
If you have a Haynes manual go to page 1*4 ( Maintenance - Component locations)
underbonnet view of 1.4 litre model it's number 3 on the picture ,fuse and relay box,
I'm just wondering if it's something that i don't have ( electric sunroof or something ).

Still no joy, looked at the Haynes manual cover to cover last night, still can't find out what this relay does ( and it's still bloddy ticking )

I know what it is!!

Mine was doin it with ignition at 2 (electrics on) it was coming from wiper motor - so i fiddled about with wiper stalk on column and it stopped!

If it aint that, what i just put won't help

Man i wish it was that easy but it wouldn't explain how the clutch changes the length of the ticks coming from it, cheers anyway, If i knew what the Relay did i would probably know what the hells is causing it, was the ticking coming from the Relay or the wiper on yours mate?

Ooops - unintended double post.

My tickin was coming from that placky panel at bottom of windscreen.

(as for clutch changeing clicks, - i shudda read ur original post in full).

No probs mate, I think that plastic panel you are talking about is the pollen filter door ( not fitted on all models )can't think what would be ticking in there though.
