General Registration docs help!!

I've been waiting for my lovely 500 bydiesel to arrive and was hoping i might see it soon. I got home from work tonight and i've got a letter with the confirmation of registration, reg number and a letter asking for my insurance. I had phoned the dealer this week and found my car to be at status 30.
Does anyone know how long they've waited from thid point? i.e if i get 7 day insurance will it last

You only need to get the 7 day insurance when the dealer confirms that they've got the car and you can pick it up. Until the dealer hands you the key it's not your responsibility and a piano could fall from the sky in TG Morris Marina fashion and it's the dealers fault. If the dealer says you can pick up from 4pm on Dec x then call up Aviva and get them to insure it from that day.

I know! i feel so lucky if that is the case and i really feel for anyone still waiting, including a mate at work who ordered a 1.2 sport 2 weeks before me and is still at status 20.
The letter was like a bolt from the blue. I have to say my gast is flabbered!!
Thanks maxi for the insurance advice, i guess my car must be in the uk? Blimey best i ring the dealer in the morning for an eta!
