Hi Guys

... and Hi Alex :worship:

It's been a while since I've last visited the forum. Still a lot of very good advise and assistance on the forum. Great work! (y)

I've found your post on removing the clutch. Followed your directions and everything went fine and smooth. Just one or two slips:

(1) the plate that press against the flywheel fell off when I removed the clutch... so I did not see which side of the plate should be up against the flyfeel. Could you discribe or send a pic?

(2) do I need to alighn anything on the clutch... I'm thinking of the splines?

I'll be glad if you could help...

When you say plate that presses against the flywheel im guessing you are talking about the clutch plate in which case if you look at both faces you will see that one of them is written "fly-wheel side" and yes you will need to align the clutch and this can be a proper b***ch to do your best bet would be to get a clutch alignment tool.

From memory it is the more flush side that meets up with the flywheel (but just go with what it says), last time I did a clutch it only fitted one way.

You do need to line everything up, the clutch needs to be nearly dead centre. With the bolts done up enough that you can just move the plate use a screw driver to lever it into place, by eye will probably do (always worked for us eventually). Once you are happy remember to do up the bolts the rest of the way.

Then you need to line up the gearbox, an assistant to slightly turn the engine (to get the teeth to match) while you (with another assistant if posible) shake and push the gearbox into place.

Thanks guys....

I'll have a look tonigh if there are any markings on the clutch indicating the fly wheel side... (y)

If ther are any other what do and what not to do you can think of, please let me know. I'll put the clutch/gearbox together over the weekend.

Regards

Good morning all...

I have attached some pics of the clutch plate. There were no marking/writing indicating which side should be the flywheel side....

Could anyone maybe just check these pics and indicate which side it should be. There is a slightly raised side and a more flat side.

Many Thanks
