I couldn't work out why he opened the parachute when he did?

He was so close to breaking the freefall record - and it seemed like there was still loads of sky left...?

His visor fogged up so he couldn't see his watch or altimeter. Better safe than splat.

this was brought up in the press conference i think (was only half listening) like colin said i think it came down to a safety thing.

cant imagine even trying to think about anything when falling that fast!

I think they planned to open it at 5000ft, but opened it at 5200ft. Also, because he was falling so fast, would that mean he got to the limit faster than the person before?
