Recomend a car

i've never met anyone who owned a 206 and afterwards said it was a good car. plenty of them enjoyed it, most say it looked nice, but none of them say it was a good car. imo they're made of flimsy crap. working on a 206 is one of those situaitons where you spend most of your time shaking your head and damning the french.

I remember... I remember... thanx for returning the memories Jug... :(

only silly high milage ones are in the budget. an MK3 would be alrite but I doubt she will want one

She does want a bigger car really.. always stayed away because she thought she couldnt drive them but I let her have a go in the marea and prelude and she loves big cars now. They are alot more comfy for longer journeys imo.

She currently has a Toyota yaris 1.0vvti. Its a great car in very good nick and an excellent runner but because of the small engine size, it wont take the added milage well and it doesnt tend to be the most economical car once upto motorway speeds (sits at around 4300rpm for 70mph).

It's a toyota so will run for ever and clock up the miles no matter what abuse is given, and if its sitting at 4300rpm at 70 you can't have found 5th (only joking:eek:), but seriously, mum's Y-reg 998cc VVTi GS Yaris dosen't sit that high at 70MPH! It's the best car we've had, 90,000 miles and only had new tyre's, and wiper blades, been smashed 3 time's (well only once, other two were scrapes) and well serviced and its still going strong. Only problem we have is the drivers seat wearing, but if that all that can be moaned about with a car it can't be bad.

As you can tell I like Yaris's aswell as my Panda.

i always wanted a yrv , nearly got a turbo one once

that a yaris underneath, slightly bigger and go for ever, my dad just clocked over 150k in his and only the radiator broke on it

Compleatly lost me. All I know is it's not a Yaris:p got a pic so I can see?

also comes in yellow:D

Shes going to have around £2500 to play with but idealy wants something as new as poss with as low a milage as poss but which will be good on fuel and take the milage well.

Can't go wrong with a Mondeo at that price. Well built, comfy, motorway muncher, can get in diesel/ turbo diesel, good to drive and will give her the extra space she requires. They're also excellent value for money.

The yaris will be going though as well, shes never been that attatched to it as its not the colour she really wanted but the car was perfect in everyother way so she bought it anyway.

Girls. Typical.

:p

So thought i better reply to the thread about my car decisions! :p

So i've got a new job, Monday-Thursday I will be travelling to different locations and will get 40p per mile (which I think is relatively good) on Fridays I will have to go into the 'office' which is in dudley so means motorway driving and I won't get travelling expense's! ... for the first 3 weeks or so I will be travelling to and from dudley as I will be doing all the training and inductions, etc.. which means I won't get travelling money and clocking up just under 100miles a day.

The main reason I want to get a car is, I will be desperate for the money next month, as the wage i'll get from my old job at the end of may won't pay for the petrol costs, etc, and I need to get an mot, service and tax so will be really hard to pay for!..

My orginal ideas were...

Ford focus/fiesta
Peugeot 307
WV Golf, Polo (but don't like the older shapes!!)

With the Yaris..I really do love it (apart from the colour!!) as I got it at a good price for the milage and condition (apart from the old lady that haunts the car! but I would miss her too) and with it only been a 1litre I always thought it wouldn't be good for travelling lots!

Not sure what to do now!

why dont you want a fiat? :( can get new ones on intrest free

Lady, get a Mk1 ford focus 1.8 TDCI

You will command the motorways, enjoy a still quite modern comfy reliable car that handles brilliantly.

Insurance group 7, 115BHP so it has poke and lots of pulling power! And as it's a focus it would unlikey attract unwanted boy racer attention etc:)

Only downside is that these models are pretty competitively priced as they are right at the top of the most wanted focus lists.
