Technical RECALL: Service Solution for Suspension Springs

As far as I am concerned they can stick their modification where the sun don't shine :) I have fitted [at my own expense]shocks/springs/top mounts and top bearings and tie bars so if another spring goes ping then I will be fitting no more fiat partsits either hand made springs or coilovers its the only way to go IMO as far as possible away from fiat OE parts and in the right direction Its a shame the car couldn't be rewired as well away from all those crappy sensors that fiat fit and call progress BEEP BEEP BEEP :) a great car ruined by bad design and inferior parts.

So theres no dismantling involved and only 30 mins....hope I can get dealer to do while I wait, if I ever get car back from crash repairers :(

Phil...these crappy sensors (which most are required by EOBD legistation) are not Fiat made but generally Bosch/magneti marelli etc which are supplied & fitted to all cars.

I realise that the sensors are not made by fiat but never the less couldn't they have fitted a throttle cable instead of a sensor etc IMO there's to many on the stilo which are forever BEEP BEEP BEEPING and are an unnecessary evil and a continuing annoyance to their owners and this is why I think their owners get rid of the car as they never know whats going to happen from one day to the next BEEP BEEP BEEP (n)

I think you've just got a rogue issue somewhere on your motor Phil. I know it's a real pain tracking it but you can be sure there's a problem somewhere (most likely a very simple problem when you find it :bang: - like a sparkplug screwed in finger tight :D )

They can't be all bad as I get less warnings on mine now (basically non at all) after one year than when I first bought it.

Yeah rogue issue is air bags as i wanted to fit those bucket seats in my car would have looked  with two in the front and three in the rear ;) I haven't got any beeping since the injector was sorted but its always the apprehension and feeling I get when I get in and start the car I am sure a lot of owners get that same feeling also. It usually proves me wrong and my car is going really well even better TBO since the induction and remap but there's always that gut feeling when I drive her :(

i have the 'cups' fitted - can see them when viewing the car from the side

What an abortion that is (n) but cheaper than proper strut and spring for fiat (n) Now :Offtopic: I know but people cock their nose up at proton but my sons car is well out of warranty and he has had a recall for an ECU replacement as everything can die on the car and that's going to cost them a pretty penny but obviously they are concerned with the owners health and not their pocket :)

Proton wont lose out you can be sure of that, they will claim money back from ECU makers, hitachi or bosch or who ever makes it ;)

My recall work completed this morning and in only 35 minutes, i'm impressed, Fiat can do things quickly when they really want to.

i took a look and is same as photo previously posted, i expected something abit more heavy duty to catch the spring if it snaps:eek:

As I have already said in a previous post its a scam and wont stop the springs snapping and that's the real issue they SHOULD be addressing (n)

Is that official, I thought they were supposed to be looking for early signs of corrosion as well as the mod (which I think only protects the tyre).

Be interesting to know how Fiat would react to someone getting a broken front spring soon AFTER the inspection :chin:

Mine's booked in for Wednesday to get this done. It's already had a new set of front springs according to the invoices I got with the car, but according to Travelwise in Consett, the recall mod hasn't been done (didn't show up on their computer when my wife went up there to ask how much the options would have been when the car was new).

I see your point Phil... Mac who ran me into work did say Multipla's had similar problems and the solution was replacement springs! Did make me wonder why only bottom cups are being retrofitted to Stilos...

just had a strange phone call to FIAT, they said the spring recall was released in July 2005 and that mine was done in bath. my car has never been to bath as far as I know as the previous owner lived near nottingham.......

I'm taking it in next saturday to have it looked at, but this is very strange:confused:

They will probably try and wriggle out of it as they did with me (n) and defer all repair cost to the owner :bang:
