all i can sayyyy is recall take it to your dealer if you can get it there and get it done for free:slayer:

Re: spring just gone

nope aint had it done, well they aint any big metal plates there, I have only owner the car for about 4 months, second thing to go this week.

Re: spring just gone

Good advice (y)

There's a fair chance you'll get it replaced for free if you can get it to a good Fiat Dealer/Agent (plus have recall mod carried out)

Re: spring just gone

Oh GOD another one :( I really feel for you ..another member with the dreaded spring saga what ever you do dont fit PI springs :bang:

Re: spring just gone

well hopefully, my fiat dealer will turn around and just replace it, but i dout it will be that easy, they are some omp ones on ebay, will they be anygood as a backup if they dont replace it for free, and how much will fitting cost.

Re: spring just gone

Phil's just jealous that he hasn't lowered his yet :p

LOL you naughty boy you :p let me tell you guys I had a lift from ozmosis to brookland the other sat and he came back to mine to drop me off and have a look at the chavtastic 5dr and Junes new 3dr and when he left he nearly left the bottom of his car on my run in to my drive when backing out  and thats why I dont lower it :worship:  god I'd have no bumpers left :D

Re: spring just gone

Phil is the road about 5ft higher from your drive to the road, you couldn't even get that coupe on there :p

There is a very adverse camber on the road to the run in like this \ and then the opposite on the run in like this / angles are slightly exaggerated but none the less I cant drive onto my drive from the road head on and have to sort of swing in side ways :bang: got no problem with the car at standard height but if it was lowered then in would be good by body kit time

Re: spring just gone

ok just got off the phone with them, they guy whi i talked too said, he couldn't do anything today but would call fiat on monday to see about getting me some new coils fitted, so fingers crossed wont cost me a penny(y)

looool, can i come and pick up the bits that fell off then? :p that really is a *)&^$ of a drive you have. :bang:

garsenior, fiat dealers (and Fiat uk) know that the catcher mod was a stupid choice of solution, and a lot of them would replace the spring as a gesture of good will (and to keep you going there), so hopefully you should be ok getting a free replacement (y)

did it damage your tyres by the way since you dont have the mechano kit?

Re: spring just gone

nope it missed the tyres, so had a bit of luck there, will let you all know what they say on monday, surly if it is just grit or something causing it they should put something in to deflect all the rubbish that gets kicked up, rather than a plate to catch it when does decide to snap in half.

Re: spring just gone

This has all been covered pretty exhaustively. Basically, all the Stilo's springs are susceptible to corrosion. The replacement springs should be good for at least 3/4 years and maybe a lot longer if they've redesigned the protective coating.

Re: spring just gone

lets hope they have done, anyway shouldnt matter to me guna replace the shocks and springs near the end of the year when i have saved some money up, so that will be spot on(y)
