Another quick question.

My New Ulysse Eleganza did not come with a socket in the third row of seats, as advertised in the specs and guides.

Dealership said this was due to a technical revision, but I wanted to use it to run a DVD player in the back. This only leaves me with one socket on the dashboard [the 2nd taken up be CD changer].

Has this been missed on my vehicle, or is it down to spec? How hard is it to remove the blanking plate and insert one otherwise?

Sorry, I mean lighter sockets [I would mention cigarettes, but I packed up last year]. They are useful for bottle warming [see Ulysse brochure] and running games etc.

No, I've got the Eleganza with CD changer and I don't have a rear socket either.
Shame, it would be useful to be able to have something in the back charging and not in the way.

Hi Keggers,

I also await a reply from Fiat UK about this - I am in open correspondance with them over a number of issues; they even phoned the house yesterday coz they were concerned!

As far as this bl**dy socket is concerned, I know that things are different if you have CD changer [i.e. power for that comes from Driver's seat], but never expected to lose rear one. However, if Felix has one missing as well, do we have a case? Or maybe the Parts Bin was empty that day, or taken over by Peugeot/Citroen.

Hi,

I have just taken delivery of an Eleganza 2.2 JTD with Pivoting seats and electric doors as options. On inspecting the interior I found that the 12V power sockets as shown in the brochure (marketing feature) on the base of the drivers seat was totally missing and the one in the third row just has a blanking plug.I did wonder whether having pivoting seats and electric doors was the reason but on checking with my dealer I was advised that the one in the drivers seat was dropped sometime in September and the one in the third row had been left out by the robot. Maybe the parts bin was really empty! I have been advised to complain to Fiat Customer Services about this but in the meantime as they are sure the wires are there they will fit it for me. I will let you know when I get round to having it done as I live in London and my dealer is in Corby.

On another note does anybody know if the Connect people in Milan support the GSM module? I will post this as a new topic.

Hi Lou,

You using Rockingham Motors then? They were one of two dealers I could have used - looks like I picked the wrong one.

The whole Connect system is GSM based as far as I know. That is how it communicates, using data transmission services. Some SIMS do not work, but see other forums for that.

Hi Stuart,

Yes your right I purchased the car from Rockingham Motors who I have used since 1986 when I purchased my first new Fiat. I refuse to use dealers in London as I and others I know have always had trouble with them. I cannot fault Rockingham and after a 6 year break having gone to Renault I decided on coming back and purchasing an Ulysse though the Peugeot was a contender. Having said that looking at the postings in this forum it looks as though I may have a Peugeot anyway. Not totally happy about that as from experience Fiat engines have always been good work horses and was one of the main reasons for deciding on the Fiat. I have started a new topic called GSM Module regarding the problems I have come across

No Probs - I was going to use Rockingham, because Motorvogue in Northampton refused to return 3 phone calls I made to request a test drive of their demo! In the end I got a test drive, but a lot of effort.

I was told that the engine was a JTD Alfa unit - see another forum of mine discussing that.....

Interested to see that you got your socket fitted. I can use that as a precedent. Have emailed Fiat UK about numerous issues, but they seem to be on a go-slow with everything.

Hi,

Thats good to hear. Had a long chat to my dealer on Monday. I ordered a new nearside rear light cluster back in September coz mine was leaking after it had been pressure washed. Still not here, and now they deny ever taking the order! I now have to take the car back down there for them to look at it before they can re-order!!!!

I also notice my front indicators lights also seem condensed up after a drive in the rain. I am going to get those replaced to. I did mention to them that I want a rear lighter socket in, and they seemed fine about that. At least we have a picture in brochure to prove one should be there.

Stuart

If you get your 3rd row 12V sockets free, it will show consumer "power". Sorry poor joke.

My front indicators mist up a little to, but it is only the front plastic cover not the light itself so I think it will probably do it anyway as it would be difficult to seal it completely. The Punto had the same problem on the headlights and the solution was to put a bigger vent pipe in.

I have just picked up my Ulysse 2.0 Auto Eleaganza.

It should have 3 sockets but only has 1 on the dash & the other 2 are missing but the socket for the 3rd row is blanked out.

so it`s seems it`s not just me!

This is really odd, mine was shipped from the factory last month and delivered on the 21st Oct. It is identical to Pauls\and has\all three sockets.

Must be a mistake or they did run out !!!!!!. As it is a key thing they advertise it seems stupid that they remove it and blank it.
