rear light indicator broke

Right, when i brake my left hand rear indicator lights up not flashes lights up
and when i indicate left i get a mixture of either the top 2 red lights alernatively flashing on and off, or the top red light and the indicator light alternatively flash on and off.

i have tried to get behind the lights in the boot but theres only a little piece of carpet that is ripped that i see to get in otherwise its taking all the plastics off.

anyhelp will be appreciated

Did any water get in it while it was broke ?

Dodgy earth, either a ground wire to the body or within the light unit, or wiring harness connectors.
