Rear humming noise.

Hi,

I have had my Grande Punto Sporting for just over 3 years now. Just recently a humming noise has started coming from the rear of the car and it gets louder as I put my foot down. Im guessing it could be a bearing problem. Has anyone else had this problem?

Is this a common on a car at that age? and are they easy to replace myself?

Yes its fairly common, seems to be usually the rear passenger side bearing, had mine done under 3rd yr warranty so was FOC for me, the whole hub has to be changed but AFAIR it is a DIY proposition.
