Hi all,
Quick question.
Is the rear engine crass-member for the 500 R different to the preceeding models?

......as produced in the factory...yes. it has a different engine mounting arrangement. But the earlier version would fit on the car, so some later cars may have the earlier version and vice versa. However, you need the matching engine mounting.

I THINK that the differences are that the 500R had the 594cc '126'engine in it, and the engine mount for the 126 is different from that of the 500.

Yes; it wasn't that clear from what I said.
But as you can easily fit the 500L/F engine mounting to either a 594 or a 652 engine, or vice versa, if looking to replace the cross member on any car it's more appropriate to select by engine mounting rather than the car variant.

Thank you, I suspected as much, but wasn't sure if it was a straight forward adaption for 499cc engines.
Interestingly, the 'R' type crossmember is cheaper than the 'D, F, L' type, I wonder why that may be?
