My brother owns a 2004 1.2 Active 3dr punto. Car was involved in a crash not my brothers fault we need a rear bumper.

Can someone please tell me which year and models will fit his car please.

Thanks
Alison

I think any Punto mk2/b bumper will fit ((But make sure its of a 3dr)) As 5dr bumper whant fit hope that helps

Thats what I thought but some of the scrap yrds were telling me it had to be a 2003 -2006.
But I can't see any differences between the earlier mk2 shape. I know the tail gate is different that took all afternoon to get lol!

Mk2 1999-2003 bumpers are different in appearance to the mk2b which was 2003 - 2006,

You could probably get away with fitting an earlier bumper but would affect the value of the car in the future by more than the cost of getting the right bumper now so worth sticking to the right year

Also I agreement to above you will have to get one from a 3 door car

Thats true Andy. But we can't get a body coloured bumper 03-06 we live in Northern Ireland. only black plastic one so we really do need to put something on the car.
As my brother doesn't plan on selling for a few yrs it really shouldn't matter.

two things, one: you most likely won't get a colour match on what ever bumper you buy but especially if its from an older MK2 car.
secondly if you're not prepared to sort it now then you're unlikely to fix it in the future,

better getting a black bumper that just needs paint, than wasting money on a bumper which will knock value off the car and still most probably need paint anyway, at the end of the day its his car so if you don't mind wasting money one way or another then do what you think

car is booked in to be fixed on 17th April.
Black bumpers are hard to paint especially getting the paint to stay on them.
I used a black plastic mirror trim and got it painted to colour of the car 18 months on a lot of the paint has already peeled off. So will be redone when my car is touched in this summer.

The black one won't be an exact match either as if you look closely at the design its not quite the same as the body coloured one.
What ever goes on the car will be painted and matched to the car.

if when you say black plastic then it is either off a punto commercial or its off an older punto, as the mk2b cars (not vans) all had body coloured bumpers, the only cars that didn't was the Classic made between 2006 and 2012 which are still sold on the continent.

other wise its just an unpainted plastic bumper waiting to be painted. i have painted my share of bumpers over the years and can tell you 100% the plastic used in painted and unpainted bumpers is exactly the same, usually the only difference being the texture, keeping the paint on the part is all in the preparation

the black bumpers have a high concentrate of silicone? in them and dont like painting no matter what prep you may care to give them
i would never attempt to try anymore
personally i would wack a black one on if thats all that is available and wait till a painted one turns up even if its in the wrong colour
of course you could always ask an ebayer how much to post to you too
