So trying to figure out what might be wrong before I take my 2003 fiat punto into the shop. I've replaced all the back lights with new bulbs and it seemed to be working fine but the warning light is back again and this time the right side break light is not functioning properly. it's either dull or completely off and thus is turning on the blinker light and clicking rapidly to indicate the light isn't working. the bulbs are all still new and not burned out so unsure if just a faulty bulb or something more complicated.

Assuming no wrong bulbs fitted, then most common is a bad earth connection.
On daughters Punto it was the connector plug onto the rear lamp unit, the terminals on it are a sort of aluminium which gives a white corrosion and often fails.
Cleaning the connection and spraying with switch cleaner helps, but one had to be replaced with a good s/h lamp unit.

yeah another friend recommended cleaning the connectors first and see if that fixes the problem
