1. Check the mechanical brake components for[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
a. chafed rods or levers[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
a. a brake rod or lever reduced in thickness by more than 1/3rd[/FONT] [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
b. corroded, frayed or knotted cables[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
b. a brake cable corroded, knotted or with wires broken so that it is weakened significantly[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
c. free rotation of clevis joints between cables and levers (this includes cable linkages between brake pedals and remote mounted servos)[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
c. seizure of clevis joint pivots which causes strain or wear to cables to an extent likely to lead to premature failure of the cable[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
d. a corroded or damaged rod, lever or linkage. Wear in eyes of relay levers, clevis joints, stationary pins or pivots[/FONT] [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
d. serious weakening of any part due to excessive wear, damage or corrosion[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
e. abnormal movement of levers, indicating maladjustment or excessive wear[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

f. security and excessive wear of brake linings/pads[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

g. contamination of brake discs and drums by leaking brake fluid, oil or grease[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

h. the condition and security of brake drums and discs[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
h. a brake disc or drum insecure, cracked or excessively scored, pitted or worn[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
i. presence and security of brake back plates/callipers[/FONT] [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
i. a brake back plate or calliper securing device loose or missing[/FONT] [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]
j. restriction of free movement[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

k. presence and security of locking devices[/FONT][FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

Note: On some vehicles, locking devices may not be obvious. However, if there is evidence of disturbance or change, inform the vehicle presenter[/FONT]
