Hi All.
We have a punto, 1.2, 8v, on an x reg.
Over last 3 mnths, everything has gone wrong on it.
Firstly head gasket went, cost us £365 to get fixed, then last month, power steering column needed replacing, that cost £250, and wasn't even fixed right....now, something else has gone, and we don't know what, and have no money at all to get it repaired.
Started a few weeks ago, red engine light flashing, every few seconds, when driving, car felt a little ropey to drive and engine didnt sound very good, but was driveable.
Then last week, it started juddering, and feeling like it was going to cut out, but not all the time, just intermittent.
This week, the car wouldnt start, eventually got it to start; juddering, but again, driveable.
Yesterday, got in car to collect hubby from work, wouldnt start. It is turning over, but nothing else, managed to start it for a few mins, revved arse off it to keep it going, soon as i did that, it died.
We have spent a bomb on it, and had to use our holiday money to pay for repairs, holiday is 8 weeks away, and needs paying, so no money left for car at all!
Hubby says there is a hole in exhaust, on the manifold leading to the Cat....would this cause the problem?
Could it be patched up until after the holiday when we have spare cash again to repair, or is this an engine problem? The engine, if original, has done 117k so had alot of miles on it!
Please can someone advise on what this could be???
