ok fitted new exhaust system up,

and after abot 5 mons the light came on when made to run at fast idle

so ill get a new lambda, £65

ah well

I'm really interested in this thread too as I am having similar problems ... the injection light is on, although the car seems to be running ok, it is definately running hot .. I have just replaced the water pump (which was leaking) but it has made no difference to th erunning temp .. where is the temp sensor that can cause this light to go on? is the lambda sensor easy to fit? and ... where can I get one of these code readers to tell me whats wrong!

thanks very much

i would check your thermostat isnt stuck first

then the temp sensor is next to the right of the throttle body as your looking at the front of the car

the lambda is just before the cat and unbolts and leads to two plugs that unclip

If you injector light is on there there is problem with one of the following engine components:
ECU
Injector(s)
Ignition
Lambda Sensor

The light being on is telling you that the ECU is overfueling/underfueling the car, dependant on the problem, just to keep it running.

The running temp of Cinquecentos is around the 90 mark... this is normal, and when this hot the rad fan will be on/off about every minute or two, this is also normal.

Please don't worry about the temp, you will become accustomed to them running hot, i would be more concenred about the injector light, as your car's not fueling properly, even if it feels ok.

See the rest of this thread of tips on the injector.

Cheers

ive found a universal one for £46 delivered but how reliable would it be? i mean cutting and soldering the connectors, not sure how reliable that would be

I've got a universal one in mine and it's fine! (y)

Just make sure you make a good connection! and seal the wires up well when you're done!

are all the wires different colours. do the new ones match the old?

adam .. hope I'm joining in not hi-jacking! I think I need the new sensor too, but I would like to find out what other checks to do, and if /where you can buy the tool you talk about which will tell you why the light is on ...

Yes mate... there'll be clear instructions with it, so you shouldn't have any problems at all. Took me all of about 10 mins to swap them, and the difference was unbelievable!!!

John,

Best thing to do mate is follow the advice here.

It's process of elimination, as you genrally can't buy the tool to read the ECU, other than that find an electronic diagnostic centre, although the ECU usually tells you a load of crap when the Lambda sensor has gone!!!

Cheers

ok ill see if i can get a universal one tomorow and get it fitted up
fingers crossed this will sort it

the exhaust clamp is rattling on the heatshield so ive gotta sort that and its blowing a little:mad:

This is my original sensor... the two white wire are visible

These are totally interchangeable. If your sensor is an original it will be bosch so it'll look the same!

ok cheers ive ordered a new sensor, apparently its direct fit for less than £50 :D

fingers crossed.

ive refitted the exhaust, i cut some thread off the clamp and pushed the heatshield up a bit, and sealed the join where it was blowing, then blow torched it to set the sealer,

ill leave it overnight now and fingers crossed it wont blow

its still broke :bang:
