Re-Shelling

I've been thinking of doing this for a while with my panda, it would be illegal but how would they know if you swap all the numbers and destroy the original ones.

They probably wouldn't, cos this is exactly what all my 'Mini' mates have done in the past. Although I'm not condoning it. They take a mini with a good shell, send off it's V5 as scrapped, take off and throwaway all the ID's and transfer everything inc. old ID's over to the new shell from the rotten car..........

Only problem a friend ever had was trying to use a V5 for a Cooper bought at an autojumble to register a rebuild/replica with. DVLA were suspicious, as apparently at that show someone from the DVLA had been inspecting all the V5's for sale and noting the reg numbers, so ultimately when it came up as being attached to a vehicle, the DVLA sent the police round to inspect it.

They were there 15 minutes, 14 and a half of which were spent lusting over and sitting in his mates Lotus Exige, with 30 seconds to say yes that's an old Mini and ticking all the appropriate boxes..........

Tis a little silly isn't it, i can see why it's a good idea to prevent some illegal activities but it should be possible if it were to be done properly!
