Ah, with you saying you "might have a faff around with it" made me think it was still on 2.1, or older if it was network branded. That's a decent overclock too, iirc you can only get nearly 10% extra on a Desire. My Touchpad has been stable at 1.9 on both cores, from 1.2 (y)

And yep, I read and instantly forgot about the RAM and CPU being on one die - so if the GPU is too then yeah, SOAC :)

Having the headers is nice, an entire low powered system on a little PCB, with IO... but 700MHz and at least 128MB of RAM. Arduino on steroids? :chin:

As for the carputer idea, wouldn't one of the cheap Android tablets be a better base, considering you'd also get an LCD, digitizer (sp?), wifi, etc?

I suspect you could, I've never looked into the specifics but I would think that would connect to the RCA for the video, and the USB for the touch interface. That would be ideal for an Android build, as it'd work exactly like a tablet or smartphone - just what you want in the car tbh, I want one so that I can hook it up to a second monitor for watching NFL while I play Skyrim on my main PC :D

Any word on if you can use USB hard disks with these? I suppose it depends how strong your chosen PSU is. I'm thinking low cost, low power highly customizable NAS. Just hook up whichever disks come up cheap on HotUKDeals :)

I am thinking along these lines too - but to get the Pi with Ethernet costs a bit, then there's the power supply issue and cost of drives etc etc - just to be left with the performance of a USB drive I reckon it'd be cheaper in the long run just to buy a USB drive :confused:

Still cheaper than a 'proper' dedicated NAS box, and cheaper to run than one of your computers all the time, with file sharing turned on. And it's sometimes handy to have it shared between multiple computers, or 360s/PS3s if you have them too, plus you could always set up HTTP/FTP/other servers and forward ports for outside access if required... though if the Ethernet is only 100Mbit it would be a bit plops.

If you want a USB connected HDD then just get a router that supports that function. If you want a proper NAS setup then get yourself an HP Microserver and do it properly;

windows ce emulator

I don't know of any Windows CE emulators that will run on an ARM chip - if you ever did find one, the likelyhood of it working with varied GPS hardware is slim.
