Whilst driving my radio will randomly unmute. I mute it again then a few mins later it unmutes. This is really annoying and I’m worried it’s gonna turn on when I’m not in the car and run my battery down. (2004 Panda Active 1.1). Any ideas how to fix/turn of my radio? Cheers

Hello and welcome.

This is a known fault with the radio. The only way to truly stop it is to change the radio.

If you have traffic announcements activated it will randomly come out of mute.

As long as the radio isn't on when you get into the car there isn't anything to worry about

My radio randomly switches to another station, not while I am listening to it, but I have often come back to the car to find it on classic FM and I don't listen to classic FM.

For a long time I thought I was going mad, now I just find it amusing, part of the cars character lol. Been fine for the last 5 years ?

Mine did this I found battery had a low charge charged it up radio dose turn it's self on now.

Standard CD radio in wife's 1.2 Dynamic switches on and off with the ignition like any normal car. My 100HP has to be switched manually with a long keypress. It also struggles with signal strength on local radio but fine with other channels. Character I guess.

If you turn on the radio in the 100HP with the ignition off, it'll turn itself on next time you turn the key. Turns off after 20 minutes by itself.

on my radio there's a setting in the main menu and you can set the delay after you switch the ignition is off to anything you want, or switch the delay off and it goes off with the ignition

I take it, its the Grundig one? mine turns itself on when the temperature outside is around 0*C. the fault seems to be in the CD activation switch where as it gets colder, the space between the brass contacts contract just enough to 'spark up' the unit , this can be a bit of a shock at 3 in the morning if you've been listening to the radio/cd player at a loud(ish) volume. Best thing ive found is to just turn the volume down to zero so if/when it does come on it wont drain your battery. Still annoying though given this is a known fault with the unit

original post is about randomly coming out of mute

this is normal if traffic announcement is on.

which is different from radio randomly switching on. Of which the work around is normally to leave a cd in.
