Technical Radio problem

Hi. Just bought a nice 500 2009 for my wife. The radio is not working....there is power, the presets all work and display the radio stations but there is nothing but static noise. Ive checked the aerial as actually renewed it as the was a break in the old one. No difference. Any suggestions as to what it could be? Thank you.

Hello,

Aerial base might be corroded or the cable might be disconnected.

It requires proper grounding to the car body.

Good morning. Thanks for your reply. I removed and checked the base yesterday. No sign of corrosion or the cable been disconnected. I'm stumped at the moment.

Base can be fubar without any signs.
Buy one with the right connector.
Been there, done that.

when you say you renewed the aerial do you mean the complete unit or just the top bit if you did not replace the base unit its likely that the electronics inside are corroded internally so get a replacement there are two different types so make sure you get the right one by part number!

Hi to you all. Another question. When I unlock and open the driver door, there is an audible alarm type buzz which lasts for about 10 seconds. It always seems longer. Is this normal? Thanks

Yes, it was just the top part. Thanks for the advice. I will look into this as soon as.

Hi. Just to let you know that I bought a used original unit with a working board. It worked. Very happy.
