Using some thin strong plastic I wedged it all around the radio to deal with any Velcro and sticky bits. The only place I obviously can’t get to are the back of the “wings” next to the holes. Still won’t budge. Took it to Halfords: they can’t get it out either. What the heck is going on!

I had a similar thing happen with my Stilo.
I went to remove the lardy cassette player and fit a Cd player bought from Aldi.

Problem I had wasn't the I.c.e. but the in dash surround it was supposed to slide from was buckled.

I never had any I.c.e. removals pins, so I stupidly use a long thin screwdriver, a bradawl and a cut down metal coat hanger.

It had worked on my Uno's and Puntos, and when I managed to remove the I C.E. surround.

The plastic surround that replaced the large hole that the dash (and the half sized Din) it got removed the same way, with my Heath Robinson removal tools, when I traded it in, and put the Fiat Cassette radio back in

The retainer clip or clips are knackered 🤬.

Dashboard as previously suggested; or

Knock out the clips but likely damaging the bracket and possibly the radio. Depends on which bit gives way. Use a rod wider than the pins of it fits. Use 4 and maybe it'll give after one on each side.

Good luck, perseverance and a bit of force.
