General Radio signal

I drive a 66 plate never had any issues with my radio in the past but suddenly I am ! Hardly picking anything up sometimes dependant on my location a local station will burst into life !
I'm no mechanic my son said he would "have a look at it " but from what I read it may be a garage job .I try to keep my car up to spec as I'd like to part ex for a newer model soon ..advice please ?Thanks
